Define Project Budget
This section describes how to define the project budget. The procedure is explained using an example. It is not mandatory to define a project budget, but since you will be referring to budget lines in the projecct schedule, we advise you to create a project budget.
To define a project budget, proceed as follows:
- Open the search (ALT+Q) and search for the Project List page.
- The Project List page is displayed.
- Open the card of the project for which you want to define the project budget.
- The project card is displayed.
- In the menu bar, click Planning > Project Budget.
- The Project Budget page is displayed.
- To create a project budget line, click in a new line in the Budget Lines area.
- To enter data, it is advisable to follow a structure. Click in the input field in the Line Type column and select HeadLine from the available values.
- In the Position No. column, the value 1. is automatically added to the field and the text of the line is formatted in bold.
- Under the Description column, enter the heading for the 1. position. This heading is used to structure the project budget lines. You can add further positions or components below the created heading (HeadLine).
- In a new line, click in the field for the Line Type column and select the value Position. The value 1.1. is added in the input field for Position No..
- In the field in the Type of Number column, specify what type of item it is. In our example, we would like to add a requirement gathering workshop under the heading (i.e., the Conception headline/project phase). For this purpose, we have selected the value Miscellaneos for this field. In the field of the Number column, we have selected the corresponding service.
- Complete all items in the project budget lines. Also enter the quantity for the items. The project budget is defined.
Note
Quantities can be added later
In our example, we have not entered quantities for items 2.1. and 2.2..
These quantities can be added later in the project schedule if you cannot specify exact quantities for that item. For more information on how to add quantities via the schedule, see the section Add Missing Quantities to Project Schedule Lines.
